Turkey is a favourite for Istanbul city breaks and Antalya beach holidays — and it is not covered by EU "roam like at home". Typical European operators charge €6–15 per day or a few euros per MB. Turkcell, Vodafone TR or Türk Telekom?
All three networks are solid. Turkcell has the widest coverage including the coast, the Cappadocia region and the highways; Vodafone Turkey and Türk Telekom are equally good in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir and the resorts. The 120-day phone registration — does it affect eSIMs?
Foreign phones using a Turkish SIM must be registered (and taxed) after 120 days, otherwise they are blocked on Turkish networks. This rule targets phones with local SIM cards. A travel eSIM is a roaming profile, so it is not subject to the local registration — you can use it for the full validity without registering the phone. That alone makes an eSIM the better option for anyone staying more than a few weeks.

- Blocked services: Turkey occasionally throttles or blocks social platforms during news events. A VPN app on your phone is a sensible companion — it works over the eSIM data.
