Compatible devices
Your phone needs two things: eSIM support and to be carrier-unlocked. Most phones released since 2018 qualify.

If the screen shows an EID (a 32-digit number) next to the IMEI, your phone has an eSIM. On iPhone you can also open Settings → General → About and look for "EID"; on Android Settings → About phone → SIM status.

Important notes
- Carrier lock: a phone locked to one operator cannot use a foreign eSIM. Ask your operator to unlock it before you travel.
- Mainland China models: iPhones sold in mainland China (and some Hong Kong / Macau dual-SIM models) do not support eSIM.
- Dual SIM: your physical SIM stays active. Use the eSIM for data only and keep calls/SMS on your own number.
- Software: keep iOS / Android up to date — one-tap install on iPhone needs iOS 17.4 or newer.
